Learning from Photosynthesis

Agriculture is still evolving and there are several research groups world-wide working to ensure that we meet food demands by 2050 and mitigate a food crisis. One of those research topics is in improving photosynthesis in crop plants. Photosynthesis is the process in which plants user solar radiation to generate carbohydrates and sugars, which the plant uses for growth and development. Big, green healthy plants in turn helps feed our growing population. We are joining the search for better agriculture practices and investigate why plants are so successful in harsh environments. By doing so not only can we find better solutions to growing crops in urban and harsh environments, but find ways to grow on other planets.
